We want you to love your purchase, but if you are not completely satisfied, we will accept most returns by mail or in stores within 90 days of purchase for free. All shipping and delivery fees are non-refundable.

How to make a return

Free Macy’s Return Policy do not include Gift Cards, food, gourmet gifts, Beauty Boxes, lamps, wall art, mirrors, furniture, mattresses, and area rugs. International orders are not covered by free returns. There is a charge for return pickup in certain areas.

Return to a store:

In order for items to be returned to a store, they must have been purchased in the store. It is possible to return items purchased online by mail or a store. Your original receipt should be brought with you.

No receipt at all? We can look up your information by using your credit card, return label, packing slip, email or registry number.

Return by mail:

The only items that can be returned by mail are those purchased online.

You must include the items listed on your return label in the corresponding box. If you have multiple return labels, return items in separate boxes and apply the correct return label to each box to ensure you receive your refund without further delays.

What if my delivered order is damaged, broken, or defective?

We apologize if your item was damaged or not. We want you to love your purchase and will work with you to replace the item if available or provide a return for a full refund if your item is damaged or broken upon arrival.

The items are sold directly from the sellers on our site. You will be able to contact the seller if the item was sold directly from the seller. Macy’s can’t process returns or exchanges for these items so contacting the seller will result in a faster resolution.

How refunds are received

  • If you have your original receipt, the credit card you used to purchase, your return label or packing slip, you will get a refund in the original form of payment.

It was a gift:

If you have a gift receipt, return label, or bridal registry number, you will get a store credit in the form of a refund.

You don’t have proof of purchase:

You can still get store credit for the item’s lowest selling price in the last 180 days.

Store credit can be used like a Macy’s Gift Card online or in-store, but can only be used in-store.

Within 10 business days, we will credit your account. It can take a few days to post activity to your account. For purchases made with multiple forms of payment, your credit accounts will be refunds the amount originally charged and the remaining amount may be issued in the form of a Macy’s Happy Returns card or a Merchandise Only Certificate mailed to your billing address within 2–4 weeks.
